That's a shame. I always liked The Doobie Brothers. It seems like we're losing a lot of classic rock musicians lately.

He played in Southern Pacific too (or something like that) It had McFee, also of the doobs, and the CCR bass player. Good band as well.

Didn't the Doobs have two drummers?
When I was young I shared a joint with Michael Hassock(sp?). Didn't know who he was at the time. . .
Really nice guy.
(had some REALLY "good shit" too, . . . go figya')

Sorry to hear. I have always been a big Doobies fan (at least the pre-McDonald era). Patrick Simmons and John McFee were big Ovation players, too.

I was a big Doobie's fan as well until McDonald showed up. Not the same band afterwards.

I never cared for Michael (aka: Mumbles) McDonald either.

That's sad news, indeed.

I've enjoyed their music (both pre and post the Michael McDonald era) and respected thier musicianship for decades. What an awesome band...

Even more of a shock to me as I live in Palmdale, California and Keith donated his Harley that he owned for years and had the band autograph the gas tank to the Veterans housing project. Last month Keith was here for the raffle/give-away and show afterwards. I heard it on the radio since I couldn't go. To hear he died when he was just here is sad. He certainly gave a great groove to some great music.

The Doobies were a great band and had that special quality in that they could and did grow, like the Beatles. I really like the McDonald era stuff. I also still really like their first album with Pat and Tom doing the vocals.

The most recent couple studio albums were pretty good too. Had the "original" Doobies sound to 'em, and (for the most part) the "original" line up:
