Joined: June 2004 Posts: 375 Location: Rocky River, Ohio | I've played a few, the 1866 i believe. your assumptions, in my opinion, are correct. i've never played one in which i was happy with the unplugged sound. i think it's my own personal preference in that i prefer a deeper 12 string sound. i play with heavy gauge strings on my 12's, and i tune down to C#, similar to leo kottke's taylor model. my mid bowl legend 12 has a great balance, while my elites sound like a piano when tuned down. now, just like you thought, when you're plugged into a dedicated acoustic amp, all bets are off. The sound is wonderful, and when playing with a strap, the SSB is very comfortable. good luck , ernie | ||
