Many of the responses were quite entertaining and informative. So I thought it might be interesting to see who's made progress. I for one want to know if Beal got his "34 to 39 D-28 herringbone". Though I think he might've told us about that one if he did. I've notched several off my original list, but believe it or not, I've managed to add others to the list since. GAS, it's simple, yet complicated. Anyway, here's my original wish list with some comments about present status....and the additions. I think it's pretty good progress for 18 months, especially considering some of these instruments are tough to find. So tell us...What have you come across? Willa should be able to fill a page all by herself. And if Canterbury Strings chimes in, they might exceed the site's bandwidth/storage. ![]()

The 99 Collector's is sold and I now have a 47RI. That would have been a nice application of the "one out one in" rule, but I keep getting guitars that weren't on the list, like the Patriot and the K1111RI. The only thing I can think of that's been on the list for awhile is a 97 Collector.

So, a year ago, Aussie James loans me one of his and I've played it... maybe 5 times in total. The last time was probably 4 months ago. (btw, thanks again Jim) It's good to try before you commit. I'm just not an electric guitar player. (Interesting to see how many other people had a UKII on their wish list back then) My other wish list items were; "Any 'O' 12 string" Changed my mind. Don't want a 12 string any more. "Applesauce AA12 or AA13" I did get a 1/2 size for the kids - non 'O' though. Any upright bass (double bass) or MusicMan 5 string bass Don't want another bass guitar after all. Happy with my '72 Fender P bass. Ducati... Changed my mind... again. Don't want a road bike - now I want a dirt bike.

Having said that I consider myself very fortunate to have been able to put together the collection that I have so far. I have several significant and rare pieces of which I am very proud. Oh yes, wish list! Not too many on it now. Blue Breadwinner, currently in my sights!! Book Mando, to match the Book Elite Red Adamas, 47RI or 1687-2?? Should a collector have all the Collectors?? Maybe my sig should be "Collect It" AJ

In the last year my main aquisitions has been a Guild D40, couple of Taks and few more Collings. None of which I could have predicted. Also got matched red & blue Adamas reissues from Al.

I'm gassing to reconstitute my effects. I wish I could make up my mind ... maybe this time I will and I'll have the perfect rig! (yeah right!)

Fortunately, I'm over my pedal fascination at present and seem to have my two boards (one for acoustics, one for electrics) just about right. Can't say the same for our bass player. He goes through pedals like t-shirts. I didn't know they made so many bass pedals. Like me, he prefers a small board limited to about six pedals that doesn't take up a lot of room on the floor. It also fits into an aluminum carrying case for handling ease. Nonetheless, he seems to rotate a new pedal onto his board every week. Now he's into the very expensive low-volume custom boutique stuff with lots of knobs. Funny thing about it is . . . other than warm-up and noodling, his sound is always the same, so I'm not sure which pedals he's using or not using. I could really use some quality instruction on maximizing the benefit of pedals.

The 1158 was my 1st Ovation in 1980, had to sell it along with several other guitars in 1990 to fund my business. Had to sell it for about 1/2 of what I paid for it. I have several 1658's (natural and a cherry - similar to finish on the Anniversary) and a 1659 (dark sunburst) but nothing matches the 1158 as an acoustic. One is on eBay now but no answers to my request for disclosure.

(Which means I'll be saving forever to be able to order it.) I'd originally thought in turquoise, with a small abalone rosette, reminiscent of the Parlor, but that one of TJ's with the white/blue combo sure is purdy. But, pipe dreams aside, in the last year I've gotten the Princess (the Parlor), Betsy (the Patriot) and Gloria (the Pacemaker)--and Hildie, the 12-string Elite that Ali has now. Not a bad year at all. :D --Karen
