Looking for an om size, or so, and someone I know swears by this series (Taylor GC). Anyone own or play one? Opinion.

I have DDSM which I would consider close to an OM in size. Very comfortable to play and sounds excellent plugged in with the LR Baggs system.

I have played most of the Taylor models and the DDSM is the only model that even attempted to talk to me.

A DDSM once tried to seduce me.
She was very nice but definatly a high maintainance type of chick.
Not my type.

I put a LRBAGGS in a GC Taylor for a friend. I had it for a couple of days and to tell the truth it didn`t do much for me. It looked good and played good but my 415CE sounds much better. Hey you could buy my 415CE. a little bigger than a OM but i can`t play dreads much anymore but have no trouble with the 15 Taylors. Matter of fact i find them more comfortable that the 14s and feels as good as my 000 Martin to me.

The GC5's not bad...and the new ones are a slotted headstock, which is kind of cool.

Personally, I'd go for a Larrivee OM instead...or if you've got the bucks to work with, take Beal's advice and get a Collings.

OM is my favorite size guitar. Look at Takamine, Martin and Collings. Taylor does not interest me at all. Dave

If I had heard of Larrivee's b/4 I bought my Taylor I would have thought long and hard.
Larrivee's are incredible guitars for the money.

Before I had the Jewel built, I played a lot of everything in the $1000-$4000 range. I wasn't in a store that carried any Collings or Larrivees, so I didn't know that they existed back then. But...I played a bunch of Taylors, and none of them spoke to me at all.
I have played one Larrivee since then, and it was a great guitar--not too deep, and very, very comfortable.

Lowden is another overlooked very very nice guitar.

My S23C is awesome and JeffW has one that every member who has played it has raved about.

Put a Lakewood M-32 into the mix too. Not many folks know them, but they are not expensive especially for what you get. www.lakewood.de
