As we all know, O's and A's have a strong bottom end, more so than most other guitars. What I'm looking for are tips on how to guide the sound people on mixing my guitars - and also on my own EQ settings. Thanks ...

Fishman or other acoustic full range amps are another way to go as they have full range monitor style speakers. I'm sure you can practice with your PA to work out how much bass to cut when going direct too. One thing that might be worth a trip to the music store is that bigger house PAs are going to have more bass response than you get at home. Once you get used to the difference you'll know where to start.I

There is also the AD3 and AD5, plus numerous other brands and products available. Prior to the AD8, I used my Roland AC60 in a similar fashion as Cavalier, though I did not use the amp as a monitor. I have a dedicated monitor for that purpose which handles the guitar, my vocals, and any other thing coming off the board that I need in it. Here's an AD-8 ![]()

I'll go and experiment with Coryell's settings as well, though, for my home recordings. Edited by leonardmccoy 2016-07-15 8:14 AM

I've seen Al's setup pretty close. His guitar might be set to flat, but he runs his signal through various effects, EQs, syths, etc.

I play acoustics as well as an ES-175 into one before hitting the PA (Mackie 808S). I use it sparingly, and mostly to fine tune the midrange and add a little high-end sparkle. For rooms that have problem frequencies, I crank the “notch” (straight up is Unity), then sweep the corresponding frequency dial until the bad one jumps out and hits me in the face. Then I leave the frequency dial on the trouble frequency, and dial back the “notch” (- unity) until the boom or feedback is eliminated. Usually I’m good to go after that - other times it calls for more EQ tweaking. Depends on the room, what was notched out, or how neurotic I’m feeling.
