Hello everyone, I've been lurking on this forum for the past month or so(Awesome threads). Not sure where to start so here it goes.

I'm hitting the big 40 next week so Wifey wanted to get me something special. You guessed it, an Ovation. :)

I've been a fan of Ovation for many years. One of my beginner guitars was an Applause. I actually stopped playing back in the mid 90's but last year, I was able to pick up from where I left off. Now I'm actually having fun learning and playing.

In the meantime, deciding on an Ovation was harder than I thought. Here were my picks: Elite 1778, GC178, 2778, 6778, 2058, and the 07 collector's Bear Claw. I finally decided to get the GC178. I'm not an expert but I really enjoyed playing it at one of the larger chains. The order was placed this afternoon and I already received a tracking #. It should be here tomorrow. Pictures to follow.

I know this is a wordy intro but I thought it was rude of me to just lurk and not contribute. Now off to the archives!

Cheers! From a Jersey guy who's glad that an Ovation Forum actually exists.

Welcome. There's a special place here for guys from Jersey. I can say no more.

Congrats on a great get. There been a LOT of positive buzz about those particular guitars. Wifey sounds alright in my book. The true test will be how she reacts when the next 10 Ovations start showing up. :)

Keep contributing! Let us know when you get your guitar.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday and welcome. No matter which O you get, it will only be your first of many if you hang around here.

Thank you guys for the nice welcome. I'm pretty sure that I will enjoy playing this one for awhile. Wifey was going to add a 12 string but we decided that I should, OK, she decided that I should wait until I find the perfect one and will get an Acoustic Amp instead. Since I have a habit of saying, "honey you were right!" I'm going to actually wait for the right one. :)

Cliff - I'm not too far from Monmouth Beach.

Stonebobbo - I have 5 guitars now, one is a PRS which I intend to give to my brother in law this weekend, he doesn't know it yet. I have an Ibanez RG 550DX which I just gave my son so Wifey thinks I'm cleaning things up but what she doesn't know, I'm actually making room for more O's LOL!

Who says it's padded? I thought it was more like draped in velvet ;)
