Does anyone have some advice on safely cleaning the gold parts, notably the tuners? My older ones are in good shape (no pitting, wear etc.) but have lost their sheen compared to the newer ones.

The first step I took was to remove the gold buttons and replace them with Pearloid. I knew I couldn't keep up.
