I've never written a song in my life...but there's gotta be a blues song in here SOMEWHERE! I was talking to my friend Jerry today. Shortly into the conversation he told me a few days ago he had looked over an "unusual" Ovation guitar at a local pawn shop. He said the top really caught his attention: he wasn't sure if it was wood, or what it was made of, and it was an interesting blue-grey color. Kind of a "slate blue" color is what he finally decided on. He also told me it had the same multiple sound holes as mine (6868 elite) and the wood around the holes was ,"absolutely gorgeous." After a couple of questions I asked if it said, "Adamas" on it, and he said yes it was an Ovation Adamas and they really wanted to sell it because it had been in there too long. I was in that pawn shop 5 or 6 weeks ago and didn't see any Ovations, but who knows? I finished my conversation with Jerry, stopped by the house to grab some cash and headed off to the pawn shop. I knew the guitar had been behind the gun counter rather than hanging on the wall with most of the guitars, but when I got there, there was an empty guitar stand behind the counter and no Ovations in sight.... I asked the man behind the counter and he said the Ovation sold early this afternoon, about 2 1/2 or 3 hours ago. He said, "actually, it said Adama, Adami....something like that." I said, "Adamas?" and he said "yeah, that's it! It was a really nice guitar, not a mark on it. It was an unusual grey color." I asked how much it sold for, just out of curiosity and he said $750, "I didn't think we'd get that much for it." !!!!! I didn't bother to ask if it had a case....it just didn't matter any more at that point. I told him thanks, and I'm going to head home and have a chat with Jack Daniels now.....missed it by 3 hours! Even worse, that's the second guitar I've missed in less than a week! I missed a Gibson SG for $250 on Craigslist last week because I'd worked late the night before and hadn't gotten up early so didn't see the ad until it had been posted for about 5 hours....GONE! At this point I'm trying to tell myself that there's a better deal heading my way out there....but right now its hard! I got the Adamas Pawn Shop Blues!

One of the positive traits of a true Bottom Feeder Luthier Guild (BFLG) member is to make constant and meticulous rounds in local shops, CL and Fleabay.

Congratulations, you have taken you first steps in a much larger universe!
