Here is a hard-to-find 1999 model with big sound The Taylor 415 Jumbo is a six-string jumbo acoustic guitar that's a member of Taylor's 400 Series. The jumbo body style is intended to create a jumbo sound, and Taylor has put a new spin on the concept with the use of both traditional and non-traditional woods. The result is a big sound, but with a little bit of the edge that might come with a Gibson or a Martin taken off. The Taylor 415 Jumbo has back and sides made of Ovangkol, with a Sitka Spruce top The neck is Mahogany and the fretboard is made of Ebony, with large pearl dot inlays. The binding is white fiber, and the finish is satin back and sides and lustrous gloss top that was developed at Taylor for maximum durability and resistance to cold-checking. This ultraviolet-cured finish is also more environmentally friendly than traditional lacquer finishes. It comes equipped with chrome plated Grover tuners. Taylor builds one of the most solid guitars in the business, and the Taylor 415 Jumbo is no exception. The workmanship is meticulous, the clean, white binding is applied to the neck and body in a way that is so perfect that it's seamless, and to me that's one way of telling if an instrument is well-constructed and that care was taken in the building of this guitar. The Taylor 415 Jumbo has a big but not overpowering sound. The Ovangkol back and side give this guitar a warm, deep sound that is nicely balanced by the brilliance of the Sitka spruce top. This combination creates a good blend of the highs and lows, with a little bias in favor of the lows. The Taylor Guitar Company has learned the jumbo design well, and the Taylor 415 Jumbo is a good way to own a jumbo acoustic guitar without paying a jumbo price. This is a PLAYER's guitar that has a mature tone well past its 14 years! This guitar retailed for around $1,895.00, and I think it's an incredible bargain at that price. I am asking $995 plus shipping.
