Okay, I've decided to put all my focus into my Ovation Viper (1271), trouble is now I need a truss rod cover for it. I have a feeling that all Ovation truss rod covers are universal, but I could be wrong. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

There are two sizes of the standard TRC, shorter and longer.
Do you have a picture of your Viper?

Jerome\'s website Full of TRCs

Yeah, there's a picture in my welcome thread, or here.

Right now I have a non-original TRC on it, and the Viper III has it's original one. The non-Ovation TRC finally started to bug me so I need to replace it. I've got a feeling I'd need a longer TRC.

Thanks again for the helpful response MWoody.

You could probably have one made easily enough if you can borrow one of the correct size or at least get a tracing of one. If it would help, I can trace my Viper TRC onto thin cardboard for you. it is a two-layer black/white plastic piece with beveled edges. I won't swear it is orignal because the guitar is an MWoody creation.

Good point FlySig, thanks! I appreciate any help or advice on going about this. I had a "replacement" TRC on it that came with it, it looked alright but was held on with one screw...

I'm glad you guys are always so willing to help out. Sorry I'm one of those annoying kids who always have tons of guitar things going on, lol. :)

Send me a life as soon as possible, Woody. I've pretty much used up the one I've got.

Seriously, MWoody you are my hero, this is the second time you've helped me out. Next thing I know I'm going to be sending you my guitar for some TLC, haha.

I'm always surprised by how kind and helpful some people are, I can't tell you guys how much I appreciate all the help.

It's a shame that Ovation made some of the best electric guitars of their time, yet that aren't appreciated. I'd be in a tight spot if the pickups weren't original.

Keep watching ebay for Vipers in bad shape or pickups. They show up occasionally and can fuel future repairs.

I keep a watch out for Ovation stuff. I saw some UKII pickups in the UK not too long ago, but didn't think to get them. Not sure if they sold or not. I wouldn't mind trying out some of those passive Preacher pickups if I could find them though. Thanks again MWoody.

Red Vipers are pretty rare.

There was a red one on ebay from an eastern Idaho seller a few weeks ago. Went for a decent price.
