The epi's seem out of proportion, and when I zoom in on the logo on the headstock it looks as if it was modified or photoshopped in. how about the bridge shape? What do the experts think? Is it a legit Adamas or some kind of copy/scam?

Still both very easy fixes. Originally posted by Jonmark Stone: Beyond a bargain, it's an absolute steal. "3 out of 6 pickups are not working" means he plugged a standard cable into the stereo jack. There's no equivalent of PayPal protection for Craigslist, is there? Looks like a great bargain, but isn't it risky?

That said, I just picked up this Adamas I found on Craigslist in New Orleans (I'm in northern FL). I talked with the seller extensively on the phone to get a feel for him. We had a good rapport, he was very willing to work with me, and I got a good impression of him. I insisted on a PayPal transaction since, even tho' it wasn't thru eBay, PayPal still offers some recourse for a disputed transaction. Everything worked out well, and I'm a happy camper. A distant Craigslist transaction is certainly much more risky than say, eBay, but it can be done IF you're diligent and careful. Of course, another option would be to ask here on the board for help from any member that might be in the seller's area.

But genuine and trustworthy are not always enough. Everyone has their own perception of "mint" or even "good" condition. To avoid surprises, it is a good idea to actually see the guitar. Or have someone you trust see the guitar for you. I picked up this smoky colored little sweetheart off Craigslist but only after G8r had graciously inspected it for me first. ( AND facilitated the transaction complete through packing and shipping it himself I might add. ) I've also been known to just jump in the car and drive (some distance) when the stakes are a little higher and I want something bad enough. This one was also a Craigslist deal. Like Dave said. "If you want the item bad enough or if it's a good enough deal, you can talk yourself into it." Bottom line is it's still a risk. But it can pay off if you're careful. And diligent. And/or can get by with a little help from your friends. :) Mitzdawg, check your PMs Otto .
