Interesting...unpretenious, almost boring from the front....but if you turn it around.....

I really like that rosette, too. So, is there a view from the back?

You know, maybe it's just me ... but there was always something about the unique rosette (oak leaves?) that Ovation has on their guitars. This one looks like they're trying to be Martin, Takamine or maybe Yamaha. It just doesn't do it for me. Then again, maybe the new back and the Englemann Spruce will be so awesome that it doesn't matter, but I'll admit it ... I buy with my eyes just as much as I buy with my ears.

Now ... that slothead reissue. WOW!

Ice cream, ice cream, ice cream.

Beautiful instrument. But I agree with stoneman about the rosette. The floral rosette is THE most distinctive thing about Ovations, followed closely by the hourglass peghead and the rounded back. Please don't screw with our rosette! But I appreciate how Ovation is charting a new course and (unlike the 70's-80's) maybe every single model sould NOT look the same. Dave

I think this is one great looking guitar. It does have a simple look, but that to me is what is so attractive about it. Combine the look with the new bowl design, and you have a winner! :D

I don't mind the disucssion about the rosette and the soundhole, but the bottom line is, with the new back, how does the guitar feel, and most importantly, how does it sound?

Are they going to include the XLR output or is it only the 1/4 hi-Z out? Kinda reminds me of a 1994 Collectors from the front. Who was it that said there was beauty in simplicity?

I was trying to be a silent minority lest (is that a real word?) I get drawn into the gaseous vortex of all of these new offerings.

I think the new rosette is a great step. I'll go on record as saying the one on the Folklore and FD are the best yet.

I would like to see more artistic license taken with the rosettes and epaulets! The 30 Anniversary CL was a beautiful example of emblazing the traditional and has its place.

Besides, I may be looking for a job at the factory in about 10 years! Keep it up!

Ps - when will the midnight manufacture of ANS Baritone necks happen? Put me on the list!

RE: "res-"O"-nator"- Smiley came real close to being my second conversion project. Haven't heard from the guy who bought "Reso" (1132 Matrix w/ spider cone) a couple months ago. Hope he's likin' it. So, for dobro-types, probably couldn't sell enough of 'em to warrant tooling up the effort.

2 questions.

1. From the pcture I can't tell. Is there anything special about the binding?

2. Will the custom legend that will be coming out have the inlaid rosette like this one? This rosette, with the binding also done similarly, would look great.
