The local GC has a 1751 (Standard Balladeer 12 string) for sale for $399. Since I don't play the 12 I have, I don't have much use for it, but wondered if anyone thought this was an exceptionally good deal. Top is in great shape and it plays nicely, but not that much better than my Applause 12 for me to snap it up. I'm still recovering from purchasing the Ute and the new carpet my wife wants.

Good deal if it comes with a quality case...

No case, but I just got them to knock off another $100. $299 is almost too good to pass up. Let's see--good deal vs. getting in deep ship with SWMBO.

A USA Ovation 12-string Balladeer for $299!!! Buy it, send it to the mothership for a once-over, and keep it forever...

It doesn't need a once-over at the mothership or anywhere else. It appeared to be in perfect condition. I'm headed over to pick it up.

Just got a dirty look. Got the case for $50. I decided not to press my luck, so I didn't buy the free guitar. Found a buyer for the Applause, so I'll be down to only one 12 string. I think I've worn her down or she figures I'm hopeless.

I see a new home improvement expense in your immediate future.

Carpet coming next week. Bobbo, what are the chords to that "right field" song? I assume I can find the lyrics on the internet if that's the name of the song. I need a few more good 12 string songs.

I thought the carpet was penance for previous sins. ;)

I'll write out and send you the chords by email so Al and Miles don't get any nasty-grams from the Music Publishers Association.

I'm still racking up the sins before the carpet comes. This was actually just a slight diversion from an attempt to hold off for awhile. A guy from work said he was going to GC during lunch last week and I tagged along. Found out it was my buddy's last weekend and he offered to cut me a great deal on anything I wanted, since he was about to leave anyway. I could have blown a lot more money.
I suppose the crackdown on tab sites means I won't be able to find the lyrics either.

Thanks, I'll try it on the "new" 12.

You obviously haven't priced high quality carpet lately.

The amount my wife said she "saved" on carpet would have bought me this one and a new #47. I thought about that, but didn't say anything. Even not so high quality carpet isn't cheap. My wife assures me that this will make our house more sellable when we downsize next year. I'm just fine with the old house and carpet.

I owned an 1758 Elite once...cost substantially more than carpet :) (comparatively speaking)

Just spent as much in Lowe's last night, buying stuff to remodel the bathroom in the cabin as I did on the guitar. I think my wife has figured out that I'm a bit player in the expense game.

I tried using that logic on SWMBO: "Hun, I just saved over $500 because I bought my new W597 from GregS! Now I'll take half the savings and put it toward a new amp."

Doctor says I might have a permanent limp...
