I heard that Fender has dismissed Jol from Hamer.
It will be interesting to see how the company progresses at this point.

The lack of Hamers at NAMM (none) was a bad omen. This sucks, but Jol was probably too good for Fender anyway.

Wow! I still visit Jol's workshop blog about once a week, including his last post of Jan 29th. Nothing in that post gives any hint about what was about to happen. Sure makes one wonder about the details and considerations leading up to this decision. I'm sure sorry to hear about this.

Feels like Fender is dismantling the factory piece by piece.

I don't feel good about this.....

When the bean counters take over anything, it is never good news.

The key will be who replaces Jol, and what the new vision is.

My guess is that Hamer is not improved or benefitted by the change...

I hope he lands back on the track. He used to be pretty good at driving a Porsche. I think that's the first place I heard of him.

They never could pronounce Hamer or Kaman right, it was bound to happen.

You have to love the Pull system production line of 3-5 guitars a day!

he'll wind up in a better situation and I'm sure he got some bail out money.

as to what happens next for hamer, we just have to see who fender puts in place. So I'm not going to worry ... yet.

Here's Jol guiding us through his workshop during an OFC factory tour where he explained many of the detailed steps to building these wonderful guitars. In this photo, he is describing the body of their top-of-the-line Improv model. I was so impressed with the quality of these guitars that I went out and bought two of them over the next few years. I hope somebody stays in touch with him and keeps us informed as to the next chapter of Jol's career (presuming he wouldn't object).
