Heart will be playing in Bend this Saturday at an outdoor amphitheater. I'm really looking forward to finally using those tickets we bought 3 or 4 months ago. I can't believe I'm actually going to see a Heart concert, especially here in Central Oregon. This is going to be a good weekend :)

Also, if I type something that doesn't make sense over the next few days (again) please forgive me. It's partly because I'm eating pain pills. (Sorry Al.) I slipped & got my left thumb between a door post & my air chisel Monday at the ol' body shop. I'm damn glad I was wearing leather gloves. I can still play a guitar somewhat but it hurts so much it's not worth it. Dammy. This might be a good time to fix my busted $600 toy airplane. Can't fly R/C with a screwed up thumb either, but I can go fly my control line stunters.

From what I've been told, Nils has a "green thumb" - different than when we say someone has a beautiful garden.

Wow, a Heart concert and on serious pain meds. Tie yourself to that seat, Nils!!!!! If it were me, I'd be trying to get on the stage to introduce myself to Ann and Nancy..... :)

That's probably already part of the plan and when they throw him out he can say it wasn't his fault and point to his thumb......

I heard some clips from the new album last weekend and was pleasantly surprised. Pretty rockin. Mike Inez from Alice in Chains is the bass player now.

Nancy sounded really good-looking.

I don't think I'll be trying to climb onto the stage but I'm really looking forward to Saturday!

My thumb isn't green any more. Now it's mostly light purple. I went in to town tonight & a buddy of mine who has had smashed fingers a lot drilled a hole in my thumbnail with a pin vise. There is still stuff coming out of there. It's about half the size it was two hours ago. That is as close as I'll ever get to having sex with a man, DAMN it felt good when the pressure started to go away! It only hurt when the drill broke through & it was only for an instant.
I can actually play a guitar again without it hurting so bad as to not be worth it. Now that the swelling is going down I can tell it's not broken. It bends again too!

Nils, glad to hear you're feeling MUCH better. You can STILL blame that thumb, though, when they drag you off the stage.... :D

Going back a couple of posts....wait a minute....Nancy SOUNDED really good-looking????? This resembles the joke about guys calling a 1-900 sex talk line to talk to a "hot" babe, and, unbeknownst to them, it's a 40-ish housewife with a sultry voice, doing it for extra money......

As it turns out, this one is actually a 50ish hot babe with plenty of extra money. I bet she plays guitar nude.

I'm going to see Heart this summer also. I just can't decide if I want to see them in New York which can be expensive or Atlantic City which can be much more expensive but more fun also. If their current show is as good as the "Alive In Seattle" show, it will be great. If the show isn't that great, I can just stare at Nancy all night. Not a bad option ;)

I've been looking for a set list for Heart from this tour---they started the tour in Europe in June. Haven't found a set list, but I have put together a list of songs that were mentioned that they had played:

Make Me, Oldest Story In The World, The Perfect Goodbye, Enough, Things, Vainglorious, Lost Angel, Fallen Ones(2 versions?), How Deep It Goes, Crazy On You, Papa Was A Rolling Stone/Staight On, Alone, Love Alive, Dog and Butterfly, Wild Child, Kick It out(opener), Magic Man, Barracuda, Black Dog (encore), These Dreams, All I Wanna Do Is Make Love To You

The first seven are on the new album "Jupiter's Darling". Ann and Nancy did "Papa Was A Rolling Stone" when they were touring with the Lovemongers---there is a live version of it on the Lovemongers' maxi CD single "The Battle Of Evermore".

The Heart concert was GREAT! We had seats 13 rows back stage center! Nancy is a bit heftier than she used to be but she can sing better than ever now that she's a 16XX deep bowl model. She can really belt it out & she's still pretty easy to look at :) The only woman singer I've seen live that can compare was Janis Joplin. I saw her with Big Brother & the Holding Company live at the Fillmore West at Winterland on New Years Eve in 1967. (Also Chuck Berry, Jefferson Airplane & 4 other bands that I can't remember at the moment.)
Ann can play a guitar better than ever & still hop & jump around like a teenager!
It was an outdoor concert & there was a major thunderstorm to the south that was threatening to dump on us but it went around us & made a wonderful rainbow to the right of the stage. It was 96 degrees when we got there & the thunderstorm going by cooled it down to a much more comfortable temperature.
They did some old stuff: Oldest Story In The World, The Perfect Goodbye, Crazy On You, Dog and Butterfly, Magic Man, Barracuda, etc., a bunch of new stuff & finished up the second encore with some kick ass Led Zeppelin.
Great show! If you get a chance to see it DO NOT MISS IT!
The only thing I was slightly disappointed about was there wasn't one Ovation on the stage for the whole show.

Wow, that's a surprise. Did Nancy use a 12 string for anything? Usually she uses her blue Legend 12 string for at least a song or two.

That's Ann's blue 12-string, and we decided here that it is a custom Balladeer 12-string a few weeks back....(no neck binding)

Sounds like no 12-string stuff if no Ovations. Oh well.

Nils, what Zeppelin did they do? The song list I saw had "Black Dog" and nothing else....but they promised a "surprise" on their web site prior to the tour. I was hoping for "Battle of Evermore", and I saw that Nancy had her mandolin out in pictures from the European part of the tour.

Also, from European pictures, Ann was playing a Rainsong for at least one song!!!!

Nancy never played a 12 string & although Ann did I think. Nancy played what appeared to be a black Rainsong several times, several wood guitars & a flute once. Ann played several flat top (wood) guitars but I don't know what kind they were. She also played an SG with a whammy bar several times, a LP & a mandolin. That lady can ROCK. Their guitar player played an SG, a LP, a Strat, some other Fenders & several 12 strings. Frankly I was looking for O's & I'm not really familiar with most guitars other than Gibsons & Fenders (to some degree).
The only Led Zep I can remember them doing was Misty Mountain, but they did several others.
Wonderful show.

Nils, it sounded, when you were describing Nancy and Ann that you may have reversed them. ???

I was thinking the same thing. Ann is the brunette singer, Nancy is the blonde/red guitar and mandolin player.
