I have a few tunes that I absolutely love, but doubt will ever be able to do justice cause they just aren't a style I seems to be able to play.

1. Sultans of Swing (Dire Straights)
2. The intro to Crazy On You (Heart)
3. Europa (Santana)
4. Cliffs of Dover (Eric Johnson)
5. For The Love of God (Steve Vai) <- new entry to my list.

Wondering Where the Lions Are - Bruce Cockburn
and
Never Going Back Again - Fleetwood Mac

I'm getting close, but I've been at 90% on both for longer than is reasonable. The light at the end of the tunnel is actually getting smaller.

I haven't even begun to contemplate Classical Gas - but it's in the pipeline.

Knopfler's little lead lick in the middle of Calling Elvis....I've got the notes, just can't get the speed down.

Blue Moon by Tommy Emmanuel... This arrangement amazes me since I first heard it. I don't think I will ever make it.

CSN had some great pieces. It was the vocals and the blend they had that is hardest to copy.'

Here's my nemesis so far. Just do not have the chicken pickin thing worked out yet. Again the picking hand is so so important to work on.

There are more than I could ever count in this category. But for me its more about not being able to play in a particular player's style: Joe Pass? No way. Tommy Emmanuel? No chance. Don Ross? Yeah, right. SRV? We used to play "Pride and Joy" and "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and "Lenny", but that's about it and they never had 'the sound'.

If I really liked the song I would just to prove how easy it is to pick up stuff from youtube. This song doesn't look very tough.
Anyway, just tune the git correctly, turn the video on, put your fingers where he does, and use the pause button to stop it for each spot. Work each spot til it sounds right, then move on to the next spot. I've done this for countless songs and it works fine.

There are millions of songs I'll never be able to play, just in the classical world, let alone other styles. My friend Jeff plays Chet Atkin's "Windy and Warm" so well, and inspired by some friends of Jerome's on youtube, I wanted to learn a harmony. I just don't do well with speed, or leads of any type. I can put the melody into the chords, but without those chords, I am lost. They are like a safety net to me I think. I know scales, but the fingers refuse to play anything interesting when they are using them. Give me a chord to work around and I can put in all kinds of interesting stuff. I'm not sure if my problem is lack of confidence, lack of dexterity, or lack of trying.

"Fantasia Suite for Two Guitars" used to look pretty distant. We are getting closer! Same thing with "Frevo Rasgado"... Not quite there yet, though.
