b)Guitar Centric Music, however recently I've been playing music that marries, guitar and horns; could be rock, tex-mex, Western Swing etc. I'll play the horn part on the guitar as a solo. |

And possibly modern 'country' (which sounds like bad 80s pop with the addition of lap steel and/or mandolin). Lately, I've been listening to flamenco/spanish guitar. Consequently, I'm working on Malaguena...with little success. |

I like SRV also. Other than that, it's mostly rock/blues/country. I like Neil Young and Cat Stevens also.
b) I play mostly blues/rock music on acoustic. I'd like to start playing country but... i don't get it. I can play the same notes that country artist, but when i play it, it doesn't sound like country.
On electric i don't play anything specific. Since i've bought an electric, i'm playing with my "teacher" - mostly progressive rock/ jazz. It's kind of funny, because there are only three of us playing, but because of Jakub's (my teacher_) talent we can do nearly everything. For example, normally he plays on guitar, but since i've come he's playing drums in band. He can play on piano, bass, saxophone, violin, harmonica, mandolin, drumla, harp, flute etc.
btw.
in other thread (those with Heather) someone wrote that playing on guitar is not a competition. He has right, i want to apologize if someone felt that i want to compete with anyone.
For me playing is just pure fun and i'm not going to be proffesional musican.

and then listen to the Nitty Gritty Dirt Bands Circle Album. That'll give you a foundation for country. |

I have an archtop where I love to get the mellow jazz color tone chords and riffs. My nylon 1613, I like to play the Earl Klugh and Brazilian stuff. Every once in awhile I get on a G or D tuning kick, with the acoustics. Its all about fun, |

| I love going back into a music CD I once learned a song from, and find another song (that at that time I thought was just to tame or way to hard to figure out) and make it part of the solo act or introduce it to the band.
Just learned "Dogs" from Floyds Animals Album as an acoustic piece and on the bass for the band.
Not sure if we can figure out the howls and dog sounds so they sound like the album. But it's worth a try.... great song! Considering just doing the whole album for fun. Copuld be quite a gimic to feature a set that is an album from beginning to end.
Other than that I have had Ten Sumners Tales in the car these past weeks, learning If I ever Lose my faith and Saint Augustine in Hell. |

Couldn't get enough of listening to that smooth jazz stuff - Klugh, Benson and a couple of others. Sadly drifted away (tho' not ever very far) after I realized that I could find not one note on my guitar that sounded the same. It doesn't seem that I can sing to anything. (I maintain that I sing far better than Springsteen and Dylan, but that doesn't sway any opinions in my favor).
I like to play classic rock from the 60's and 70's, plus country from the 80's. I also like Johnny Cash and a few other miscellaneous artists. I like listening to Kaki but I'll never be able to play like her. |
