I was invited to play a few songs at a coffeehouse-type event last weekend. I took along my 87 Collector's and the Elite 1537 to give them a little playing out time. MAN these are nice guitars. I used an H4 recorder out in the audience, but haven't had time to listen to the results yet. Hopefully it doesn't sound as nervous as I felt.

The 87C takes up the set first.

Hope I brought enough material to fill my time slot.

Explaining open-G tuning to fill some time.

Letting the wood-topped Adamas explain open-G in its own inimitable fashion.

Yes sir! That's the way to do it. Looks like you had a blast, no nervousness evident. Keep it up.

An open G tuning with the 1537 will make the floor rumble, with that low E string tuned down to a D. Those are seriously great guitars. Glad you had fun.

My 87C and 1537 are two of my favorite guitars when it's time to plug in....

If it works out, I'll send it to ya if you like Johnny. I can't post it on Soundclick because I covered copyrighted material.

And I can't post it here because it was a Christian music venue.

It was great fun though. Thanks all for the comments. :)

Absolutely. Those that choose not to listen to it don't have to. No big deal.

Oh, geez, Patch... the "Book" is gorgeous, but I absolutely LOVE the look of that 1537! Oh, it's just wonderful! Post the music! No one has to listen if they don't want to!

Glad you had fun, my friend, and I agree with the other post that says you don't look nervous at all! You look like you're having a ball!

Thanks Willa. that's actually a 1987 Collector's though, not a Book. Though the Books are nice as well. :D

Why not? Who cares? It was music made on an Ovation. Shouldn't be a problem. No different than playing country, jazz, blues, latin, world, rock, or hip-hop. As long as you're just posting a song you played and you're showing off your Ovation, it can be anything. At least that's the way I see it.

Absolutely right. What's discouraged is religious and political discussion. Not the same thing. Please post your music, I'd like to hear it.

Patch! I can't EVEN believe I wrote that! Believe me, I DO know the difference between the two ... that's what I get for doing six things at once ... geez ... I'm tired ...

Thanks Al. As always, it was a pleasure talking with you. The songs are posted "raw"; that is, I haven't fiddled with the recordings at all, no filters, no effects, zip!

Why? Because I don't know how yet. :p :)

There's a fair amount of audience noise, and the volume might be a tad low. (It's hard to tell on my laptop speakers.) But hopefully you'll get the idea.

My voice is obviously tired (to me at least). But I've faired FAR worse in the past I think. The set order was...

How Can I Keep From Singing?
Anthem
Amzing Grace-My Chains Are Gone
Patch\'s Ning Page
The music player is a little down on the left.

Comments are welcome as always. And thanks for all this inquiry and support! :D

Patch,

Thanx sooo much for sharing!

I have to say that the "Grace/Chains" took me back to my fond memories of my saintly paternal Grandmother. She would hum hymns as she cooked and did her other chores. What an influence she was and is!

Again, thank you!

Very nice tunes. I hadn't heard that arrangement of Amazing Grace/Chains.

Thanks, Patch...and Al.

Patch,

Thank you for posting the clips, they are great. Your vocals don't sound "tired" to me, I think you have a very nice and distinctive voice. Perfect for your material… and your guitars seem to have a familiar tone that is pretty appealing also… ;)

Nice work!
