Hey Bob, How come you've never posted pics of your guitars?

Well ... no digital camera to be honest. I'll shoot some with the 35mm and get them digitized for posting.

I've owned many guitars over the years, but pretty much, my Ovation balladeer, Martin DM and Sigma SDM18 are the most beloved of my instruments for several reasons.

Sigma SDM18: my only Korean-made guitar (I used to own four) that have survived the many years of abuse and neglect from my college years and beyond. It has/had more than its fair share of parks, beaches, campfires, dorm rooms, fraternity parties, classrooms, coffee shops and smoky bars. After a seven-year (almost) hiatus from playing, and getting back at it again, it's always ready to serve and has never let me down. The 16-year partnership that I had with it is irreplaceable. It's only recently that it's getting the pampering it long deserves, and will always have a place in my heart ...

Ovation 1861 Standard Balladeer: My very first American-made guitar! Owning an Ovation was on my "dream list" since I can remember when. However, economics, financial difficulties and "extremely" thrifty family relatives prevented me from owning one. The years of waiting finally paid off on April 2004 when the guitar found me while taking my niece's flute for repairs at a local music shop in Queens. Although it is dated at 1997 (as I found out later through the serial number), the guitar came fresh out of the box, and was in brand new condition. This time, I was fortunate to be employed and afford it out of my own pocket. I didn't even have to bug my wife for money -- yeehaw! :D

Martin DM: a month after purchasing my O, my other "dream list" came true. Just like the Ovation, this guitar also found me while shopping for a microphone at Sam Ash. This time, I begged my wife to help me take it home ... fortunately, she was kind enough to comply and not bop me in the head! Eventually, the guitar was paid in full in a little over a month. Thank goodness for overtime wages! :)

After weeks of giving it plenty of thought, I finally purchased an Applause AE-48. Now my three above-mentioned babies can stay safely home, while the Applause takes over as "the" beater guitar.

What I want to own ... someday ...
a Martin D-28 or HD-28; and an Ovation Custom Balladeer

Peace!
Gil

My best guitars are definitely Connelly & SixOhSix, since they were rebuilt by The Mothership. HOWEVER, I am more emotionally attached to my own repairs. I literally have blood, sweat, and tears in these critters. I may eventually part with them, but it will be akin to a formal adoption process, I think. I'm conflicted, though. I SHOULD be able to set them free (again) to find their way in The World. That FD currently on Ebay is pretty enticing. Gotta generate some funds, and some room.
