I went to the music store to pick up my Legend LX, which was in for a set up and to have the electronics checked out. There was a nice kid behind the counter who says "I'm not an Ovation fan, but I was really impressed with this guitar".

I was also dropping off my Legend 12 string for a set up as well. The kid asks if he can "try 'er out" and he takes it out, plays a few chords and says "this one is sweet too".

I smiled and ask him "are you sure that your not an Ovation fan?" It turns out that he's an electric player who's in the market for an acoustic to play with his band, but didn't know what he wanted.

After chatting for a while, I decided to brouse around the newly renovated store before I left. About 10 minutes later, I'm walking back toward the guitar department and there's the kid sitting there trying out a (you guessed it) an Ovation! I went up to the kid and asked "cash or charge?". We had a good laugh as I picked up my LX and left.

Leave it to me to go in to a music store and sell THEM a guitar! I know that my wife is happier with this arrangement. When I came home with the guitar in my hand, she had that "what did you buy NOW?" look on her face. She was relieved to see that it was one that I owned already.

Since moving, I've missed going to Richie's.
It was a nice alternative to GuitarCenter . . .
Now the only chance I get to go there is when I have a gig in that area (and have the time to stop).
D'they get everything straightened out for you, John?

Cliff: Frank checked out the electronics and said that what I did to fix the problem (which I had done right before bringing it in) seemed to be working. He didn't see any problem other than a slightly low output. He suggested a "wait and see approach" for now, but if the problem came back, the guitar should be sent back to Ovation. We'll see. The last time I fixed it, it didn't happen again for about 8 months. I'm just going to keep playing it and not worry about it for now.

Of course, idiot me forgot to register the warrany on the LX when I bought it, so I don't even think that Ovation would cover it. I'll have to check.
