Location: Los Angeles | Anybody know where I can find a set of those rubber plugs for the Adamas style holes. I saw them on ebay ahwile ago, but I cannot find them now. Also has anybody used them in a coffeehouse or outdoor situation. I play solo so I am notplaying at a very high souns level (street fair), and do they help or hurt the sound. I have a new shallow bowl 1885 12 string that I just had custom made.I debated on bowl size but had to go for what was most comfortable. The only other one I have seen is on Al's website except mine has an ebony carved bridge and black headstock. It is truly beautiful. Thanks for any input |

Location: Scotland | The main purpose of the airlocks is to reduce feedback when playing a higher volumes & they certainly help with that without significantly altering the amplified tone. For unplugged purposes they will change the character of bass response, though it's pretty subtle. You could try closing off all of the treble-side soundholes so the guitar behaves more like an Elite T or original Adamas cutaway. The biggest effect you'll notice acoustically is a reduction in bass response & that may not be a great idea with a supershallow guitar. |
