| Ozzy is just too cool for school, He really is funny as hell to watch and I applaude his willingness to open his life to the world. No one more entertaining to watch. Christ the guy is a natural comedian from all the drugs and booze. He was undeniably a rock singer unlike others and exsisted in the monster era of Rock. To have been as famous as He and Black Sabbath became back in the day is a feat that at least deserves respect. I mean every band that we like or dislike was trying to make it to this level at one time or another. Sabbath were rock gods on the level of Zeppelin and The Who and the others.
Ozzy almost went out in a blaze of weed and booze and various drugs if not for a music producers daughter Sharon who loved him for what he was and brought him and his voice back to the world.
Today I look back at the Black Sabbath stuff and I see the whole marketing strategy of the "prince of darkness image" the band and their promotors were going for. It worked, it put them into superstar status and the music.......well ya know for the most part I do not think it all stands the test of time very well. Some of it is kinda corney now and just designed to sell to the screaming kids but there is still some great riffs in there and at the time unheard sounds that still sound great today. Like Someone said Tony was and is great.
The begginning of Fairies Wear Boots is still an amazing sound considering it was the 70's and it still sounds great. Last time I listened to one from them it did not make me change the station. Ozzy's is still one of the greatest Rock vocal voices going. Certainly not what it was but like Roger Daultry Age is tougher, quicker, on the vocals than the instrument.
And he does have an amazing following at his age. He is not one of my favorites but I am in awe of his legacy. Wish I had a weeks worth of it.
And no.....no one cares what any of us think....but if no one on this site cares what we think then why have the site?? |

As far as the TV show.. I'm still amazed that Ozzy is essentially "the sane and grounded one." That just cracks me up. |
