The 84C is the only SSB that I have kept. #1480 back in March, 2006.

It's too dark for nutmeg, so I looked up the ad with Beal's smiling face in it. He must have been in a dark mood that year, because "black is the theme" and the top was ebony stained spruce.

Ebonized Spruce! Of course! The '84 Collector's! She's absolutely stunning! Congratulations Mario!

How did they maintain the beautiful brown color? I'm ebonizing my '90 1868, and filled the wood with concentrated espresso to add tannins to the spruce, then proceeded with the iron acetate application. While I love the look achieved, she turned quite black. Maintaining the brown in the ebonizing process must have required a very special technique...or maybe tea works better to maintain the brown? Hmmm....questions, questions...

Thanks everybody. I must say when I pick it up I do find myself staring at the top first. It is an eye catcher.

Hey...this new song just suddenly popped into my head...

"I feel Free, so FREE, FREE to be me...but the guitar is NOT FREE...and me have no money."

Inspired by the GAS Temptress...sigh!

Of course, wouldn't you know that over the last 5 days this '84 Collector showed up on Yahoo auctions here in Japan! In need of a neck reset, and some minor cosmetic issues! A steal at 500 bucks (at least for Japan!), but no bids as yet. Bidding ends in 1 hour!

These moments...oh, how they try men's souls! Time to shut down the PC lest my fingers bid with a mind all their own!
