Steve - I'm devastated to read your news - you have all of my good wishes and thoughts and Lady S sends her best wishes as well.
My current predicament means I've seen 2 doctors and 3 specialists, had I don't know how many X-rays, a CT scan and quite large surgery (although nowhere near as big as it might have been ) and am now lined up for 6 weeks of radiotherapy and chemotherapy. All at a cost of nothing.
No cheap political points here - but you guys have to understand that medical care is the very least a civilized country should offer its citizens. Your lives should not be ruined through illness - whatever my problems are, money just doesn't enter into it. I wish I was close enough to send you a guitar.
I feel terrible for you. It just shouldn't happen.
Cliff - you're a hero.

Steve;
I just went out lunchtime and got some new strings for the Ultra. I'll try to get it restrung over the weekend (got a gig Sat nite). Next, I just gotta find a good, sturdy shipping box and a safe, cheap mode of trans . . .

Oh Man, I just read this thread. I'm going thru the same thing now, but on a much smaller scale. It really burns. All I can say is hang in there, and it'll come out all right.

I used to hang out on another board where all the 'regulars' were really cool. When one of the members was having a spot of (serious) trouble, most everyone would kick in $5, $10, $20, whatever they could spare just so said member wouldn't have to 'get rid of the last one.' It was a really, really incredible thing in this day and age. The best thing was, it was charitable, without being charity. I think Al will remember what I'm talking about. Unfortunately, the place went sideways (not really downhill) and I don't check in there. Haven't seen that kind of thing in a long time. Shame.

Just thinking out loud.

No argument from me, Tony. This *is* a good group. I just got a bit bummed out that Steve had gotten to the point of 'letting the last one go.' Especially considering the (many) blessings I enjoy.

I am really touched from all the encouragement and nice words that have been passed along from mebers of the board. While I did have to let the last one go. There have been kind words, a phone call from one of the members here who is a minister and emails to boot. Thnks so much one and all.It really does help knowing that I belong to a Internet community of Caring people. Keep the Family in your prayers as we continue to Climb The Mountain.
