Yeah back in 1986 I was looking for a full body nylon string guitar. Found an Ovation 1613 Classic at Alex's Axe on 48th street in N.Y.C. (they closed down and went back to Brazil when Sam Ash started buying every store on the block) My question is how do I know exactly what Year, Month etc, that it was actually built? If anybody out there can tell by the serial number, here it is. 179058. Please let me know. Thanks

Wow! That was easy enough. That makes it born in 1979. Thanks. You'd be amazed at the condition it's in except for a small crack in the finish. But I was told due to the hard finish they used back then it happened to quite a few Ovations. Doesn't effect the sound at all. The action is still excellent as is the intonation and sound. In all those years it never needed any work. And still doesn't. And I practised for hours on end every day. Two of my friends after recently hearing the sound I get with it through my P A system wound up finding the same model on e-bay and they now own one also. Again thanks for the info.

You're welcome Mo. Ovations are great guitars, I'm glad your friends decided to try them. If they ever do need any work, Ovation has THE BEST factory service I've ever had the pleasure to deal with. I'm sure everyone on this board that has had work done by them will agree.
