| I'm going on vacation for about 10 days, should I loosen the strings on the guitar before putting it in its case? |

Location: Tennessee | Are you taking the guitar with you? If you're leaving it at home, no need. If you're taking it on airplanes and putting it in the hold, you probably don't need to but it doesn't hurt.

Location: Texas | I don't know what part of the world you're in, but, unless it's in an unusual environment or you're doing something drastic that might severely change it's natural habitat (like turning off your furnace or something) ten days in the case shouldn't require detuning or other special preparations, IMO.
However, it's always a good idea to keep your guitar adequately humidified whether you're home or not. If you're in a dry climate, (or have furnace-dried winter air) humidification can be accomplished via a central, room, or simple in-case humidifier (store-bought or home-made). Especially since you mentioned that the guitar will be (gently?) weeping, you might need to replace the moisture lost to those tears… |
