Hi folks,

Just joined after buying my second Ovation guitar last night. It appears to be a Legend (1117-4) but has an odd serial number (E 699 --three digits not four??). I'm guessing early '70's but I'm not sure. My other ovation was a 68 shiny bowl balladeer! But I long since sold that one (and miss it)!

My current problem is that the Legend headstock is nicely cracked below the nut! From my reading here, it seems like I need to send it out to the Mothership for this type of repair. It's too nice otherwise not to restore!

Look forward to learning more about these great guitars!

Hello bolesr

Does it say "Deluxe" on the headstock?

I had a F-XXX serial number on an old 1117. Initially they were called a Deluxe Balladeer. The Mothership is the best place to send it for sure. I had a mishap with my UKII, and you can't even tell anymore.

Nice find on the 1117. Too bad on the shiny 68... you can't have mine!

Hi Damon67,

No deluxe on headstock. I'm going to send out for estimate to Mothership but wonder about general idea of cost to repair broken headstock? I'll soon find out but would love to hear from others.

May I receive general posting privileges?

Thanks!

I honestly don't remember the cost, and it was several years ago, so I wouldn't want to quote it anyway. It was worth it though. Can't even see the original break on a natural neck (not painted)

Post away!
