Someone needs to buy Sergio's Guitar. This is really a great bargain. If I were in the financial shape to buy it I would. Since I cannot, Someone might as well score a great deal On one of the best sounding guitars around.

I told Serge that if he doesn't have it sold by 3pm (PST) today, it is mine!!

Guys and gals - just too nice and the reissue Adamas II is only going to drive the price up, not down

So, did Serge sell his guitar in spite of us posting three pages of off topic banter. Or, did Serge sell his guitar because of us posting three pages of off topic banter?

;)

Congrats to both seller and buyer. Wish I hadn't expended my annual 'good will' allotment on the Hamer and the palm tree uke. =(

I'm guessing it sold because it's a great guitar. Dave

Well, no actually I heard that Serge had to discount the guitar significantly because of his ownership. Rumor is that the guitar was kept hanging on Serge's wall next to some "wooden box guitars" and probably the Adamas got contaminated in the process (ha ha).

The ironic thing is that I just bought the exact same guitar about 3 weeks ago. Had I known I would have gladly preferred to buy Serge's but that's OK. Hate to keep saying it but it's a really great guitar. Prompted me to sell off a SS SMT that isn't even in the same league. In the end everyone is happy.

Congratulations to Serge & Athur,
Very happy for both.
Now, i feel free to give a reply about Marcel Dadi's guitars.
I'll be glad to find informations about these guitars. Jean Felix Lalanne (one of the greatest french guitar player and probably of the world) has owned some of Marcel's guitars. I'm not sure but i think that the new owner of the Black Adamas prototype is Francis his brother (a french singer... Nothing more to say about Francis... )

The orange one is own today by my friends Patrick & David Wagner (very good amateur guitar players).

All the others guitars are in private collections. Just one is missing in the inventory!! I think its a 12 strings Adamas I in a yellow color. Perhaps have you heard before about this guitar??? Does anyone knows where's this babe now???
I'm gonna ask to some of my friends here to have some pictures of these incredible pieces of Ovation's history.
I don't know if everybody know who is the late Marcel Dadi but if you don't know, you miss a part of the music history. If you love "finger's picking", Marcel was one of the greatest guitar player of this style in the world. He also was one of the greatest creator of new technics and guitar's method.
I recommend to all of you to buy the " 1988 Olympia performence' DVD. This is a great show and you'll be able to see unique Marcel's Adamas & Ovation.
Marcel is dead in 1996 in the crash of the TWA flight. He was only 45 and so much things to do!!Very sad news for lots of people and today, i miss him & his music.
It's the first time i write a so long message but i've got a lot of things to say. I really hope you will understand my poor English (i'm better in french...).

Jérôme :)

yeah, serge is definitely a nice & generous guy =) dave is correct, his SS SMT isn't in the same league as this texture top SS. this guitar is worth at least 2x the SS SMT, but was sold for less. if i didn't have so many adamas/ovation, i would have bought it.

Paulmac,
Your english is just fine and your message was very clear. Feel free to post long messages anytime. It is always interesting to hear what our brothers from other parts of the world have to say.

Ok, i've got more informations about Marcel's guitars from my friend David from the french Guitar Picker's Association

I translate from french:

- The Adamas "lilas" (lilac flower color) is in Alsace (east of France)in a private collection
- The Adamas "yellow lemon" is in the south/west of France in a private collection too
- The white Adamas I is also in the same area in a private collection
- The Adamas "Ivory" (the sister of the orange one) is probably in Italy
- The Adamas prototype is well in Francis Lalanne's home.
- The Adamas slothead #37 belong to Jean Felix Lalanne
- David don't know where are Marcel's 1614 & Country Artist
- And finally, Marcel has own a 12 strings "green" Adamas (but a really green one!! Green like a frog... If you can see what a french guy mean...JOKE). This guitar was sold long years ago and it's probable that the actual owner don't know the history of this instrument!!! Do you have a green 12 strings in your collection???????

Dominique Filhon (a member of the GPA) make research at this time to find more informations about Marcel's guitar. David or I will send you more news as soon as possible.

Many Thanks to my friend David Wagner for his help.

I'm pretty sure Arthur wouldn't have a Mitsubishi in the house.... ;)

Hi Noah

It's a bit of a mongrel to be honest - when Hofner stopped making / importing to UK, there was a stack of (late, florentine cutaway) bodies and necks left hanging around the factory.

Someone - I've never found out who - slapped them together with fairly basic hardware and leaked them out over the tail end of the seventies.

I bought it at a car boot sale (yard sale?) for pennies, and I'm still in the process of bringing it up to a giggable standard (new klusons, lindey fralin p-90's).

So yeah, it's a mongrel - but it bites...
