I'm sure you could order one with a roundback. Contact Lost Art Vintage.

It DOES look a bit funky, but I really like the way it wraps around my midlife crisis.

The Ovation official website is now updated WITH THE ELITE 2010.

According the Ovation site, this is the 2010 Collector's Edition !!! ;)

Yeah, I never had any problem with the round back - didn't even know it was an issue until I started reading this board.

The only thing I don't like about the 2010 Collectors is that it really doesn't offer me anything I'm not getting with my 1537 an 87C.

What I really like about it is that it offers gobs of what my 1537 and 87C offer. Like I said, the 2010 C looks to my eye, like a modern version of the 1537.....

Adirondack top. Deep contour bowl. Better electronics. ANS. Modern bowl formulation. Walnut neck with Oak and Cherry.

I'll bet you'll find the 2010 to be a LOT different when really put side-by-side. It'll be a lot lighter and have a totally different sound character.

Could be. And the 1537 is so revered and there were 1000 of them. There will be only 50 of the 2010s. I'll bet it sounds great. I love the walnut neck and binding and the cherry bits on the headstock and the guitar. I'd like to see that purfling close-up. I might wish it was the baloney like on your 87C.

I'm looking forward to seeing one of these in person. Next week maybe?

...

You HAD to rub it in didn't you?

Hey Moody, The one thing I could see that may be different is the support structure under the top. You know we've discussed in great detail the birch ply underlayment for the eppis. They haven't listed what the type of bracing is either. I hope you guys will give us a detailed report when and IF you are able to see it. I DO agree though ... If you have the 1537, why do you need a different Elite? But on the other hand, my 2007 Collectors sounds completely different, and has a lot more bottom punch, even with the contour bowl and cutaway.

Vince, Bobbo and I did an a/b of my 87C and his 07C. Structurally, different back and bracing. They sounded an awful lot alike -- both great....

The neck profile plays an important part of the the overall feel of the neck. A lot of the standard Ovation necks feel basically the same to me as my other guitars with the 1 3/4" neck.

Up too early to want to type "scalloped". And "too" should have 2 o's.

I have a feeling that one of these might be a/b'd against an 87C and a 1537 in the near future.....

Well there should be one at the NAMM show and while I can't put it side by side with my 87C and 1537 (trust me, inside NAMM is not the ideal spot to learn about guitar sound), we should get a fairly good idea of the differences and similarities. I'm kinda excited about this and looking forward to photographing and playing the one at the Ovation booth.......
