If you're talking about the Viper, it's the natural mahogany. I do have an 82 Legend with one of the brown painted bowls but I don't think there's a pic there. |

Location: 6 String Ranch | Probably not. I think Fender had their 6 string bass (30" scale)in the early 60's. In fact I had one strung A2A. Probably part of what got me thinking about a longer neck to get the string tension higher so they wouldn't flap about like they did on Gordon's little parlor. I don't know of any others but I'd bet Ovation wasn't the first. |

Location: NJ | They were tiny little tubes that facilitated re-stringing. Kept the ridges of the strings from "filing" into the wood as you slid the string thru the bridge, thereby keeping the strings' "grooves" from picking-up wood fibres.
DEFinitely made strings sound better/longer.
I MIGHT have an extra set or two lying around, I'll have to check.
Whatever HAPPENED to ThatGuy, anyway??
