Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | Is the bracing or top construction different between the 1537 and the 1768? Any comments on the sound comparisons?
I have had both but not at the same time, and I have been impressed by the sound quality and volume of both. Does anyone here own both models?
I actually just answered one of my own question by checking the Ovation web site. Quintad bracing on the 1768 and I believe fan bracing on the 1537 (it's not listed, but I seem to remember that on my guitar). Both are listed as having the deep bowl, but I kinda' wonder if they used the deeper Adamas bowl on the 1537? If so, perhaps that along with the additional ply under the upper bout gave it such a nice range of tonal qualities? |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Same basic bracing pattern, maybe some very small differences. Quintad is long braces that take advantage of the fact that there is no center hole. Fan is similar but has to skirt around the center hole and has a cross brace. There would be no sense in having fan bracing on a non-center hole guitar (in my opinion). In my opinion the reason the 1537 sounds so much better than a regular Elite is the ply addition to the top. |

Location: SoCal | The bowl on the Adamas is the same as on the other deep bowl guitars. It's the mounting ring that gives it slightly more depth.... |

Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | Oh ... Thanks for all the good scoop. I wonder why they steered away from the ply addition? Perhaps the idea of a layer of "ply" would make somebody say it wasn't a "solid" top. My other question was - Why does the 1537 seem to be so much heavier? |

Location: SoCal | Should be about the same weight. Both have a K-Bar in the neck which is heavy. Maybe the 2 knobber electronics weigh more? |
