Location: Boise, Idaho | Went to see Jimmy perform last night. He's not much of a singer, but he's a great story teller, which shows in all the songs he's written, and good on the piano. He's doing a "send in your requests" tour, which is supposed to allow him to play something other than his top 40 songs, but he did a segment on Glen Campbell, and devoted some time to talking about all the other people like Linda Ronstadt, Art Garfunkel and Richard Harris who recorded his songs. They sounded surprisingly different when played with some pretty heavy piano and unusual phrasing. I shook his hand on his way out. I love concerts in small venues. |

Me too Slipkid! Glad that wasn't the case, and he is still bringing joy to folks! |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I would have been fine with his Glen Campbell show, but the one we saw last night probably had more variety. I'm sure he could fill a whole evening with stories of Glen. I think he said Glen turns 80 next month and Jimmy turns 70 later this year. All these people we knew from the 60s and 70s are getting up there or gone. He mentioned KOMA in Oklahoma City. I got a kick out of that, because we listened to it all the time.
The show started with an announcement of Merle Haggard's death and a toast to him. That was a bit of a downer, but not a surprise.
