Violinist Nora Germain posted in August 2015 on Facebook some of her practicing with the "Orchestra of Crafty Guitarists", in Los Angeles. Lots of O's here. Sorry I didn't pass it along earlier.

The intro on this YouTube page notes a 'major artist' couldn't make it, so the rest carried on.

SSBs seem popular among crafty guitarists.

The League of Crafty Guitarists was the brainchild of Robert Fripp, who is known for using an Ovation as his main acoustic axe. It stands to reason that RF's students would also gravitate to O's. I believe this outfit tunes their guitars to Fripp's NST (New Standard Tuning) which is set out in fifths like a violin or cello, except for the smallest string which gets tuned to a minor 3rd. I tried this for awhile on one of my spare guitars, but trying to learn the new shapes required for chords was like learning a whole new instrument. I got lazy and gave up. I would love to attend one of the LoCG concerts, as the limited sized audience sits in the middle of the room with the guitarists arranged in a circle around them.

I've been experimenting with a similar tuning used by Chuck Cannon, CGCGCD. So the high string is D, which is a half step below the minor third in Fripp's tuning. It is a great tuning for blues, especially on a wood box rather than an O. It has a cool rough edge to it.

Many chords in this tuning don't even have the 3rd, so the major or minor is implied. The ear hears it even when the 3rd isn't in the other instruments or melody line.
