Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada | My Marc Beneteau acoustics (one 6-string, one 12-string) are back home after being for sale on consignment at a local store for the last three months. Neither the store's insurance or my own policy would cover them, and I was turning into a nervous Nellie worrying about some doorknob banging one into something.
I took the very grungy strings off the 6-string (it must have been played a lot in the store), cleaned the fretboard with 0000-grade steel wool, polished her up, and put on new phosphor bronzes. I'll do the same with the 12-string later this week.
I picked up one of those Shubb 12-string capos. When I re-string the 12 I'm going to tune it down and then capo it.
I can't say I'm heartbroken that they didn't sell; I've put a lot of mileage on those puppies - especially the 6-string - and they're like old friends now.
You can check out Marc's guitars at his website (just type in his name).
So, the guitars currently living under my roof (I hesitate to call it my "collection," since I didn't consciously plan to be a collector) are: the two Beneteaus, Martin 000-28EC, Ovation Elite 1718, a pint-sized Framus archtop (hey Tim - it sounds like a cross between a guitar and a banjo!), a Hagstrom Super Swede solidbody, and an old Gibson SG-style single pickup bass (looks like it's an early 60's).
I'm hoping the new Adamas will join the gang this coming weekend. I'll keep my fingers crossed - unless I'm playing one of my geetars. |

Location: Midland, MI | Good for you. You can never have too many (quality) guitars. :)
Sidenote: ProjectViper is refusing to leave the compound. I took pics to put in the gallery and possibly fleaBay, but...alas, I had to explain to the bosslady yesterday that I just can't sell it without taking the junky 9s off and setting it up with some nice nickel 10s. For the prospective buyer of course. Not that I prefer nickel 10s. No. Really. Help me, Woody..I think I'm addicted. |

It is difficult - Since my intention is to sell my project Viper it is difficult not going overboard. More than likely a character flaw (if you know the difference between obsessive compulsive and simple anal retention you may be one).
If its meant to leave the nest - be frugal on amenities but lavish on the craftsmanship and patience! |
