This is a 1973 (by serial #) early flat light 6aq5a version Fender Musicmaster Bass amp. The 12" speaker has been replaced (not by me) with a 1966 (or 1976) Jensen C15PS 15" speaker (think Supro Thunderbolt, etc.). This looks to have been done quite awhile ago. The low efficiency speaker really brings out the great overdrive on this amp. As a bass amp it's really only good for low volume practice, but it absolutely rocks for guitar.

stick a better speaker in it and you have a little screamer if you don't like the jensen.
great for small rehearsals or jams great amp for harp players also |

Location: Corning, NY | Thanks. This amp really does sing...closest Fender would be a tweed Deluxe, but the Musicmaster has a smoother overdrive. I really love it, but I prefer my tweed tone in something lower wattage for recording. Offers are welcome!

Location: Nova Scotia, Canada | That's a 1966 speaker...should sound pretty good if there are no issues with it.
The amp may be a bit older than 1973. I think the Fender logo lost the tail in '72. |

Location: Corning, NY | Thanks Bluebird. The speaker does sound very good. I've decided to recap the amp and I figure I'll either fall in love with it or it will be a more reliable amp for a buyer. I love the sound, but it's hard for me to have an amp without onboard tremolo unless it's a lower wattage tweedy amp better suited for low volume recording.
Thanks for the tip about the logo. The serial# put this one was right on the edge for early 1973 so I didn't want to mislead anybody about it being any older. I think the logo tail safely puts it in 1972. I didn't check all the tranny codes, but the little one used as a PI in this amp has a '68 date code, as do the Mallory electrolytics (yes, I'll be saving them).
