I picked up a little Martin LXM for travel and the boat (so my ovations can stay safe and dry) and wanted to customize the top. It's High Pressure Laminate (aka fake wood) that feels like plastic. Since it's my beater axe, I'd like to give it some color and make it unique. Any guesses as to what I could use that wouldn't impede the sound? This stuff will never warp, but it's got vibrate so I figure the thinner the better.

Any suggestions appreciated.

P.S. Saw Loggins and Messina at Ravinia and it was truly OFC porn.

I had a 1778T that I rejuvinated and, until I needed the cash, I had plans to allow my grandson to put his hand in some latex paint and apply his handprint. Cover with a little acrilyc finish and repeat once a year!

There are a Bizzillion color options in the Krylon for Plastics aisle, not a lot of thickness there. Model stores may have the Acrylic or Lacquer poof can minis.

Go nuts, if you screw up just take it down with steel wool and try again.

And then post the pictures...

Just a different point of view... when deciding which guitar to take to the beach last weekend it was a choice between a guitar with lots of wood on it, or a guitar made of Carbon Fiber and fiberglass.... The Adamas went to the beach.

Nice picture, Mark. A couple of real beauties. But the girl on the right could use a little sunscreen.
