Location: Sydney, Australia | This eBay ad is selling a S771AX "made in USA". The label indicates it is New Hartford made, but the back of the headstock photo is cut off just where you'd see the stamped serial number.

What do the brains trust think? Bad label or a rare US AX? |

Location: Upper Left USA | I'm remembering that the AX parts were made off shore and assembled and fit in New Hartford.
But I also remember being 25 about a year ago... |

I was confused by that also...
Not that Particular guitar, but that model.
It seems that some of the later S771's were called AX.
Even tho' they were made in the USA.
By the serial number, this was made in 2006.
I believe that was before Fender bought Kaman.

Location: Bristol England | I have an S778 AX Elite Special AX made in the USA in 2005. It is quite unusual in that it has a 'satin' finish not the usual gloss.
I queried its country of origin with Ovation before I bought it and they confirmed it was American made. |
