Location: Phoenix, AZ | Does anyone know what bracing was used on a 1981 model 1627 Glen Cambell? The Ovation website archive lists A bracing for an 1127, but lists VT-8 for an 1627... I'm sure the bracing was the same on both models during that same year, but may changed from year to year. |

Location: SoCal | For the first years, the 1627 had VT-8 bracing. In the very early 80's (or thereabouts), at the same time that it went from a truss rod to the Kbar, it also went to being A braced..... |

So, what year did it change to Kbar, would a 1981 model be a Kbar with A bracing? Anyone know? |

It should not be difficult to recognize a VT from a A braced guitar....

Location: Phoenix, AZ | Thanks. Yes, it should be easy to tell when I see it in person, I have only seen pictures from the ad so far.
It does have a truss rod cover, meaning it is pre-Kbar, so most likely it is VT-8 braced. |
