I was shocked Magni was the first to go. then i thought about it and realized that they don't want someone that will fit in with the rest of the band. his age and look and his ability as a guitar player was perfect. it was lame that they told him he was too much part of the band then front of the band. I would have done anything for lead singers that just wanted to be PART of a band.

toby I thought would have won at this point. I was shocked to see him second to leave.

Dalana's last few performances were just lame but I guess they went on the strength of the early performances and ultimately the public voting so it really insulated them from making a real decision.

now I look at lucas and it makes sense. he is younger than the rest of them and may pull in some of that teen idol market selling more records then it probably should.

prediction: one tour, one CD, then breakup

I was shocked. I walked into the house just as the show was going off. I asked my wife who won and she said "dog boy".

Hadn't thought about the teen market segment. Makes sense....Delana might have pulled a few women into the fold but the reputation of TL probably had that covered.

I thought the biggest snag Magni would face was because of his newborn baby and wife, both living in Finland. The other 3 had no ties or significant others that ever came to light.

Cliff...just add them to the rest of the halftime circus!

The choice of Lucas surprised me. I've been following the message boards for the show and about 99% of the "Rossi Possi" as they are called, love him and pretty much dispise what little SuperNova music they have heard. Most of his fanbase was actually hoping he came in 2nd place so he could "take his band on tour with SN and blow them off the stage." So although they are proud, at the same time they were hoping he didn't win. They are a pretty dedicated fanbase.

Like Al, I really liked Magni for a vocalist, but I couldn't picture them getting out of the stereo-type "four guys playing rock'n roll" that SN was supposedly trying to avoid. If it was "just about the music" then I think he'd be it.

Toby I think was just too green. Even he related that he "grew into" his current abilities over the summer. I can't picture SN playing "teacher."

Dilana was a clear choice for me bringing the edge without being too girlie. I've missed seeing Woman in rock, really doing rock'n roll. I thought she could bring it.

I am a little curious if more than SN was involved in the decision for Lucas. The final show performance of SN w/Lucas fronting at the end of the show looked like the Lukas show. I have never seen Jason so bored playing the bass, and Tommy could have been replaced with . Very little interaction with Lucas all around. Even the announcement of his winning seemed a little anti-climatic.

I would have paid to see SN /w Dilana. No interest in seeing Lucas for more than a single song at a time. I guess I'll just download the album when comes out, just to hear.

Miles....nice summary.

I also would have thought seriously about going if either Dalana or Toby had fronted the band.

Even thinking about it, Lukas fronting SN for 90 minutes just bores the hell out of me. Not a good match and a very curious choice.

Hey me too - Dilana was my first - and I really thought her vocals improved near the end. Man - she did a number on Roxanne the other nite that I thought was amazing. I got her voice up there in the top 5 all time great female rocker voices.

I'm waiting for my copy of FHM!

While I'm a Canuck and should be proud - for me Lucas' vocals continually got worse - to where I couldn't stand to hear him sing the finale last night - personal taste I suppose, he should stick to doing LIVE knock-offs...

did anyone notice that the SN songs were canned? they were so obviously pre recorded it made me puke.

also having magni come out and play on the second tune, how could that have not been rehearsed?

I guess no one should have noticed?

The performances are actually tapped on Sunday and Tuesday. There is a site http://www.RockBand.com that has the spoilers and interesting insight. As Al noted, Magni played on the last tune and that was not done last minute. To give you an idea of the impact of this show. There are 34,000 plus messages on just Lucas. There are 48 pages of posts on just the last performances.

Each of the at least the last 6 performers have put their music to more people and acquired more fans than probably all of their performances in their life until now. In reality, fronting SuperNova or performing on this show may not be the highlight of many of these folks careers, but rather just the launch point.

As I said before, although I didn't really care for many of the performances, it put Rock'N Roll on primetime TV again and that's just fine with me.

I saw in one of the earlier shows, when SN was playing, Gilby had stopped playing guitar, but the guitar part kept playing. A "Ashlee Simpson" moment.
