First the custom Ute 12, then the Tak EF75J, now the Koala, then up next will be the OFC guitar, and out comes the VXT in the middle of all this, and who else has at least one additional custom on order? Looks like 2007 is shaping up to be an impressive year for G.A.S. relief.

at least would be correct ...

Did anyone notice the EF-417 in Al's newsletter? Man that looks nice. Someone told me that the product manager at Tak has that one as his personal favorite guitar. Might have to sniff around on that a little ...

This is really starting to worry me. Now I know GAS is incurable! I keep going back to the first page of this thread and drooling over the pictures, then reading Dave's rav reviews. And then Al's newsletter shows up and I have to stare at the pics again.

My wife has predicted that I will buy 2 more guitars this year - sounds like a green light to me. I may have to break down and sell something.

These days, my mornings start with about fifteen minutes of devoted staring at the pics at the beginning of this thread. I just can't get over the beauty of that top. I really hope the rest of the run is as beautiful as Tupp's No. 1.

I'm sure the rest will be even BETTER. I would imagine they would never use the best stuff for the first try, right? I mean what if you screw it up ???

Thanks to Tupp and Al, those attending the reunion had the good fortune to admire and play not one, but four of these models. Tupp brought Number 1 and Al picked up Numbers 3, 4 and 5 from the factory en route to the hotel. There was a substantial buzz throughout the lobby about the senational looks of these guitars. No. 3 appears to have a quilted finish in addition to the vivid multi-colored stripes of the heavily figured Koa. Based on looks, these models are true collector pieces. During the tour, Rick Hall lifted up a Koa top bowl sitting on a shelf and made reference to it being one of Al's "special creations", then added how rare they were because the factory just doesn't do much one-off stuff in such wild Koa.

I heard that a happy OFC camper flew home with one of the new ones from the tour. Dave

I stand corrected. No. 4 had the beautiful quilt koa top. Decided it was too beautiful to pass up, right Fred? Beauties like these need to be seen, not just heard. Display it proudly.

As you well know (wink, wink), I loves me some chatoyance*. ;) That's a great looking and sounding guitar.
