Location: Florida | Not an Ovation nut, but achin' just the same.
Got a low E string buzzing open because I got carried away with the slotting file. I can build another. I'd rather not, especially since its all done (except for this) and the slot is only like maybe a few thousandths too low.
Anyone ever filled a slot with superglue gel? I know it will work for a while - do they hold up? |

#1 slice or shave a sliver of similar material and place it in with cyanidic@#$@# (superglue). Re-file to fit.
#2 add or build up with a liquid porcelin cement. It is a high density paste.
#3 Add in an epoxy and re-file.
#4 Play a different guitar and cuss a lot while you wait for the new nut to come in from Stewmac or wherever!
BTW - If you like to adjust (like me) order lots of extra saddles, nuts and shims while your at it!

Location: Las Cruces, NM | I'm kinda with MWoody on this. but I would use it as an opportunity to get a new, high quality nut eventually, as any repair will probably fail at your audition for guitar stardom, whether it is at a family picnic or a concert hall. |

Location: Ft. Lauderdale, Florida | Try filing off the lower back side of the nut, nearest the peghead and adding the dust to the super glue, make a paste, apply, refile your nut slot.
Won't take much time or material, worth a try ... Has worked for others.

Location: Minden, Nebraska | My tech has performed the powder and glue fill on low nut slots for guitars I have had numerous times. It takes him about five minutes, and it meets the need even though ultimately a new nut is the best fix. |

Location: Florida | got extra nuts here... I'll try the dust n glue approach and see how she does. if not...(sigh) new nut. its not that bad really to make a new one, just a pain since I was doing by eye what I ought to have been using feeler gauges on. |
