Location: Florida Central Gulf Coast | During an IBT on the Tornado, I found two really stiff tuners and one with a slightly bent shaft.
Has anyone lifted and successfully reseated the two tabs without breakage?
Also, any suggestions for straightening the tuner shaft without damage?
TIA

I tried just that - straightening a bend kluson shaft. SNAP. Do a search and you'll find that I sold a used set of FIVE Kluson tuners.
I think Al has NOS Kluson tuners which are idential to the ones on your guitar. I would just replace the whole set now. Imagine how nice the guitat will look with shiny new tuners. |

Jim, I had tried some brake cleaner. It helped a little bit, but still was tight. |

AJ I like Daves Idea too, but economics sometimes dictate action. When I cleaned mine out, they were VERY sticky from no lube. I tried a light oil, and it didn't make much difference. Then I used a small grease gun I had from a Snap on air ratchet with a needle tip that they use to lube the head, put it in the hole on the outside of the tuners, and it worked great. The thicker viscosity of the grease is what these need. |
