So I threw a last second bid in on a 97 collectors and won!  Apologies if you were the previous high bidder.  However it

Doesnt have a case and the store are offering to ship it in a soft case.  I'd rather not do that, but....

So either before or after, what suggestions do you have for a suitable alternative case for that parlor silhouette and bowl combination?

Thanks in advance.

I also have a 97 collectors without a case. I already have mine but would like a case for future moves. Any suggestions or information on the original case manufacturer would be great!

I dunno if the factory would still have one or not, but maybe they can provide a suggestion if they don't? All I know is that the originals were made by TKL; beyond that I got nothin'.

If you're concerned about it being SHIPPED in a soft case, I wouldn't worry. You say a store is shipping it, and they will put it in a soft case, then put the soft case in a box, then put that box in another box. It should get there just fine. I get guitars in all the time that don't come in cases and have never had a problem.

The parlor I used to have came in a Roadrunner gig bag that had mega padding. I never needed a hard case for that one. Unless you are taking it on a plane, a thickly padded gig bag should be all you'll ever need.

The 97 Collector case is very nice and has a plate identifying it as a 97 collector. It is very heavy and turns the lightweight parlor guitar into a full load. It seems heavier to me than one of the standard Ovations in a standard case. Mine also has a few nicks in the cover that were there when I bought it. I'm sure it protects the guitar great, but the outside vinyl cover of the guitar seems to be rather fragile.
I do like Alison suggests and put it in a soft case.

I have to be honest though; I sincerely wish Ovation offered a similar case for their standard shape. I'd replace every plastic case I own with one. The 97 case is a serious, heavy-duty, archtop tank that offers way better protection.

MHO of course.

You've probably already seen these, but while spelunking through eBay, I found these wooden cases for Ovation guitars at what seem to be very fair prices. I also searched online for the model and found they're being sold at Amazon, as well as regular music outlets like Andrew's Music, ZozoMusic, etc. for $105 to $110 (CG-022-RD):
