Location: Houston,TX | Hi, I'm new here, and I'm researching about my guitar to possibly sell it. It is a little bit confusing.
The sticker inside says: (signature) C H Kaman II
then
Adamas by Ovation made in the USA
number (horizontally) 1759-96 then vertically it says 1687-8
I'm confused, would anybody please help me?
Thanks much. |

| Welcome. Those are very nice guitars. 1687 is the model number, while the -8 signifies the color (reverse blue burst). 1759 is the serial number (the 1,759th made of this model, about the year 1981), and the -96 is the resonant frequency of the top.
Another name for these is the Adamas I, and are the original production Adamas. Ones of this vintage in very good to excellent condition, with original brown hardshell case, should fetch somewhere in the $2,000-$3,000 range in today's market.
There will probably be interest here for this one, so post some pictures if you have a chance. |

Location: Route 66, just east of the Cadillac Ranch | 1759 is the serial number, 96 is the resonate frequency of the top, 1687 is the model, and 8 is the color (blue). It was made in 1981. I'll defer to others on the price.

Location: Tennessee | If you look closely, I'll bet the signature is C W Kaman II. C H Kaman was a different guy, and while the signature isn't going to alter much of anything, it might make a difference to some people. |
