 | Hi! There are good 1995 Adamas II on sale http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ovation-Adamas-12-String-Guitar-Model-1685-X-W-Original-Case-Ultra-Rare-USA-/311432672446 I saw a lot of lefty Ovations marked as -X but there is RH cutaway... Any ideas what is -X meaning here ? Some kind of custom order ? Best, Alex |

 | It's an Adamas II, but it appears to be a mid depth bowl and has a walnut neck. Probably a custom order. Anybody else got thoughts on it? |

 | I saw this one also, beautiful guitar,I believe X is for Custom and the ebay ad says custom model.Patch would probably know more about customs he has a couple with the X on the model number i believe. It does look a little shallow to be a deep bowl although I thought the 16 in the begining meant deep roundback but if its custom its whatever was ordered.
Anybody know the specific depth measurements for mid and deep bowls,if it was a deep bowl i'd be willing to sell something to own it

 | here is another example of an X custom http://www.guitarcenter.com/Used/Ovation/1990s-1768-X-ANGEL-STEP.gc
looks like a different neck was used, my 12 string 5858 has a 5 piece neck.

 | -X signifies a custom order. Sometimes it's a complete design that they have to put a number on (Like my maple topped Adamas 1681-X) or there is a single or so, notable differences from the standard model (Like the redwood top on my FD-14-X). The walnut neck alone could well warrant the -X on that Adamas, but add a mid-bowl and any other tweeks that can't be seen (My walnut pacemaker has A-bracing instead of the Fan bracing used on the original 1615's.), then this instrument is very likely a true 1-of-a-kind custom. Someone on another forum asked me about the walnut Elite as well. That top is one of the Angel Step tops and is the only one I know of with a deep bowl. Again, there may also be other, less obvious tweeks that Guitar Center would not even know how to look for. Either way, both are probably very good guitars. I personally would love to go after that walnut one. Every Guitar I own with the -X had some special time and care put into the construction just because they were a little different. |

 | I don't have anything like that Alex. You may be able to find something on Jerome's website though. |
