Anyone have any experience with the Applause mandos? My cover band has started playing a few tunes, like 'Hey Hey What Can I Do', that need some 8 string action and all I have currently is an old Ibanez acoustic that has seen better days. Looking for something electric and cheap.

I'm assuming the Applause mandos are similar in quality discrepencies to the Ovation/Applause guitar chasm, but was just looking for some experienced opinions.

Location: Phoenix AZ		Applause is a good mando for the money if all you need is to occasionally mix things up a bit. As usual you get what you play for, so set your expectations accordingly.

$100? Sold! Wow, what a beauty. I've only played a Collins once, but they are sweet.

If I had that kind of money I'd probably buy one off a friend from home's Dad. Absolutely gourgeous stuff and he machines and builds everything from the tailpieces on up. Have a look.

Location: undisclosed		I'm happy with my Celebrity mando and got to play Damon's Ovation which is better made. Plugged in they sound very similar as the pickups and preamps are the same. The cheaper versions can be set up to play well but might need some effort.
