Rather than sit there jonesing for a guitar, I've decided to invest in one for travelling. Given that the guitar absolutely has to fit in the aurline overhead, does anyone have any experience/advice on which would be better? Either one will have to be mail ordered since no local music stores seem to carry either one. TIA Bill Bain Atlanta, GA

I have a half scale AA12 which, with Soft and Silky strings, is ok is does little to impress. It is touggh though! I just grabbed a Tacoma Papoose which has energy and is compact. There is one for sale over at the UTGF (Tacoma Fan Club). I am not sure if the Trekker is luggage sized and beware of those who will tout their Ukes!

The first two will be acceptable as carry-on on all domestic flights. (less than 45 overall inches) The Olympia will fit in your luggage. All need significant tweaking to get them in shape. You're barking up the wrong tree with the ones you're looking at. That said, I've gotten my full size ovation on Jet Blue to Florida and San Juan.

I tried a Washburn Rover, but decided that the only thing I would be happy using it for would be playing lap slide. It stinks to high heaven soundwise for playing it like a regular guitar. I'm thinking Applause uke...... Roger

They could make an A-tuned version of their Korina Special or viper, sized to fit into 33 inch long luggage, it would be 30.5 inches overall length. The more I play my OSP-1, the more I hear its niche: Between a mandolin and a guitar. So sonically, it is not redundant. As a I reread the post before I posted it ... they probably don't want to get on this boat since someone made a study, but if they didn't make a study .... Anyhow, I'm off to play ... ciao fellas.

It perfectly fits in the airplane's overhead compartment, and for its size, it sounds pretty good. So far, I've brought my LXM to the beach, the pool, camping and hiking trips, and has traveled from NY to Cali three times via plane. When looking for a travel size M, stay away from the backpacker. The LXM is the better alternative. Just my .02 cents ... :) Peace!
