I have owned a 1537 Elite for about 10 years now. Bought it used and have loved the guitar in about everyway, except I am getting some noise from the electronics if I bump the cord at all. I was about to sell it to buy an Adamas, but started researching and am finding that the 1537 is a highly praised instrument in it's own right, so am thinking about just having it fixed and keeping it. Other than the finish crack (one) and electronic thing, it is nearly a new looking guitar that sounds and plays great. Any background, thoughts or wisdom to share with this newbie to the Ovation board?

Thanks

If it makes a noise when you bump the cord, it's probably the jack in which you plug the cord, that's going bad. About 3 weeks ago, I had my 1537's jack replaced. Cost about $30.

Great guitar. I've had mine for 11 years and will never part with it.

Check & make sure it isn't simply a loose lock nut on the plug socket. I've had that happen before (not on an O) & it acted just as you describe.

Thanks for the info...just out of curiousity, is upgrading the electronics an option for this guitar, if so, can someone point me in the right direction?

Don't do it. It's a classic 2 knobber. Very classy, and you can do what you need to do externally.

Externally...currently just using some Digitech pedals through my Mackie/Electrovoice PA set up. Any recommended "black box" to enhance the acoustic sounds when plugged in? Cheap (well, cost effective) would be nice.

You got the good stuff now, you don't need any of the new spoo.
