I just picked up a 1969 Glen Campbell 12 string (it was actually a gift!) today. I hope that you don't lose sight of wanting a U.S.A. Ovation 12 string. This is a wonderful guitar, and a Pacemaker would be just as good.
I gotta confess something. I always looked down on the GC and Pacemaker 12's. The only ones I ever played were used and in music stores. I now realize that the strings were usually dead and as a result, I never felt like they had any bottom end. Plugged in they were great, but acoustically, so-so.
I was wrong. This GC 12 string, tuned to concert pitch, is terrific acoustically. Not as much deep end as Big Blue, but plenty to hold its own. A very impressive guitar. Then I tuned it down a full note and now that puppy is positively mellow! I can't wait to get medium gauge strings on it and tune it down to C.
Norsey, if you can find a Pacemaker in good condition, buy it. You will never regret it. And Chuck, you got a real thrill coming your way with the Pacemaker you're buying. |

Knowing my luck, it will arrive while I am gone for a week on a trip to sea. :( In that case, I will just have to wait until I get home again to try it. I know the wait will be worth it when the Pacemaker and my fingers finally get together. :) |

I have a Glen Campbell 12 from 1974. I can attest to the fact that these are really NICE. Out of my collection I have only 3 that I would never consider selling : my Adamas, my HGS-35, and my GC 12-string.
