Hello everyone. Can anyone who went on the Ovation factory tour give us any clues to upcoming Ovation models? Did anyone get some ideas of exciting things coming from Ovation?...Paul Hebert

I could tell you but I would have to kill you. Some of the others can fill you in on what was available to the OFC at large.

The prototypes we saw, such as the deep-bowl 12-fret slot-head Adamas, show that Ovation is committed to producing guitars which sound great unplugged.

Those who have asked why the imports cost so much less than the USA guitars would have really had your eyes opened. The amount of hand-work involved is staggering. This isn't some elaborate production line like some of the high-volume manufacturers, the USA guitars (both Ovation & Hamer) are near as damn hand-made.

I could not agree more with Paul. THE most impressive thing on the tour for me was that there is NO production line, so to speak. I expected to see conveyour belts moving guitars past clones of factory workers each installing some widget or another. But what we saw were a bunch of people who obviously love what they do, and basically building these guitars by friggin' hand. I could not possibly have been more impressed. Any Ovation skeptic who saw how these guitars were built would want to buy one, because when you buy a USA Ovation you don't just get some bar-coded model number of a guitar - you get a truely hand crafted instrument that took a lot of hands to build and a lot of love went into it. The Adamas "slot head" got a wow from anyone who touched it. Then we jumped 26 years to the present and... We played "another" slot head. This one did turn heads. I think it even has a "name" and can be ordered? It might be an 04' model... But it was... Start saving your money nice.

As for my personal thanks, I had a great time.
It was worth the effort and I hope to be able to make any future "meetings".
Hell, I'm even looking at a Hamer now!

btw:
At the after-Tour dinner and jam, Woz got up and made his VERY FIRST EVER performance in front of a live audience! He performed a brilliant rendition of Stephen Stills' "4+20" to thunderous applause, whoops, hollers, handsprings and huzzahs.

Well done, sir!

Second to that, Woz certainly did a wonderful job with the tune. For those of you who don't know, he's a very nice dad - got his kid all the guitar stuff - and that's how he got into this O'GASonoma!

Cliff, it's was really a pleasure meeting you and Jeanette!

Just me and my Adamas!
